Old Testament link information

The Old Testament links in Volume 1 is an attempt to help people see that God hasn't changed from the Old Testament to the New Testament. God does not change. "I the Lord do not change." (Malachi 3:6) To say it a different way: God's character cannot change. Additionally, the writer of Hebrews talking about Jesus being God says, " Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)
Human culture changes, but not God. The old Testament can be very confusing because the culture is ancient, very different that our own culture, very barbaric and warfare was common. In our modern culture it is hard to relate back to their culture and understand why God seemed so intense and harsh. These Old Testament link are meant to help people make beach heads into the Old Testament for people and reveal God's goodness there as well as now.
