Today’s post is the last part (Part 3) of our mini-series that looks at the rejection that Jesus faced.
This week lets work on part 2 of the rejection Jesus faced. Last week we looked at His home town rejecting Him at the very beginning of His ministry. We also looked at the Jewish leadership rejecting Him at the very end of His life on earth. What about in between?
Before I get started I wanted to say “Hi” to everyone! Thanks to all of you who hit reply and send me an email from time letting me know you are getting something out of the emails! I read every note you send and appreciate the input and/or encouragement! Please also feel free to forward […]
Today let’s consider John 15:21. Jesus is speaking to his 12 (and other disciples) that have gathered in the Upper Room the night before He is arrested. Jesus says, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”
Let’s finish our protection theme with one last one event from Jesus’ life. It is mind boggling. Jesus has been crucified. He hangs on the cross for 6 hours (9am till 3pm). Words simply fail to adequately describe the torture and pain that Jesus went through. Toward the very end of His suffering Jesus, amazingly, […]
Let’s consider another event of Jesus’ fascinating protection. It is going to come from an unlikely direction. Let’s look at the time Jesus comes into the temple and displays raw zeal and passion for His Father’s house! This event may have occurred two different times. In John 2 (text below) it seems to occur early in […]
One of the clearest pictures of Jesus protection is in Luke 13:10-17. Jesus is preaching in a synagogue. A woman is there who has been crippled for 18 years. She is so bent over than she can’t even stand up straight. After teaching the Word of God He then demonstrates the power of God. Jesus lays hands […]
One of the interesting times where Jesus reveals His protection is in the interaction between Mary and Martha. Many are familiar with this event. Jesus comes and spends some time with Mary and Martha. Mary is fascinated with Jesus and quite frankly neglects some chores because she is completely absorbed with Jesus. Martha, understandably, gets upset! “Lord, […]
Let’s continue our theme to deeply internalize Jesus’ protection. Consider the time where Jesus eats dinner at Simon the Leper’s house with Lazarus, Mary and Martha. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead sometime before this visit. (This visit is different from the one where Mary is sitting at Jesus’ feet while Martha is working.) In […]
This week let’s continue in our theme of Jesus’ protection. Think through the 4 Gospels and search for events in Jesus’ life where He protects someone. Cultivating this desire to come to the Word to search for Him causes our faith to burn brightly with joy and understanding. This habit of “looking for Jesus’ goodness” may […]
