Jesus protects
The children were running to Jesus, why were the disciples so hacked off? It’s really amazing how approachable Jesus was. That’s revealed by the children enjoying time with Him and leaning into his arms. (Mk 10:16) But, I guess the disciples thought He was too busy? Or too important? Or what? Regardless the disciples are trying to run off the children and the parents bringing them. Funny thing was, Jesus got pretty hot with the disciples and He flat out tells them to knock it off. Did you notice the relationship between Jesus’ compassion for the vulnerable children and His intensity with the disciples? They are related. But remember, it’s correction without rejection for the disciples. It’s wholesome discipline… but the result is raw protection for the children and the parents who brought them.
Most of the times where I see Jesus exhibiting what I call “clean anger” is during times where He is protecting someone. He’s pretty amazing.
Colossians 1:15 says,“ The Son is the image of the invisible God…” Jesus’ compassion, protection and clean anger reveals God’s compassion, protection and clean anger.
